Found FAMILY reflects on how BIPOC + queer communities cope in all-white spaces with art, code-switching, reincarnation, food, and memories of home. It explores the vulnerability in leaving a found family, and the challenge in recreating such a space.

This project was produced out of the Film and Media Studies Senior Capstone class. Over nine months, our cohort pitched ideas, advised each others projects, worked with professional filmmakers, and gained feedback to enhance our projects’ direction. Found FAMILY is inspired by Topaz Jones’ “Don’t go tellin’ your mama’ vignette visual album.
